And Terah took Abraham his son and Lot the son of Haran his son's son and Sarai his daughter in law - his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Harran and dwelt there .....

Reconstruction: The Hanging Gardens of Babylon (Neo-Babylonian Period) Chaldea: the southern portion of Babylonia or Lower Mesopotamia lying chiefly on the right bank of the Euphrates. Recent discoveries more especially in Babylonia have thrown much light on the history of the Hebrew patriarchs and have illustrated or confirmed the Biblical narrative in many points.
