Other Archaeological Sites / The Neolithic of the Levant (500 Page Book Online) McDonald Ancient Near East Book Auction Ad Infinitum Neolithic 2 Sheikh Abdul Aziz Pre-History and Archaeology Glossary Excerpts and Definitions and Addendums: Chapter 4 (Pages 184-185): Eight prehistoric sites were discovered along the north scarp of the Jebel Abdul Aziz by a Japanese team in 1967. All were described as Post Paleolithic but only two are definitely Neolithic. These are an open site Sheikh Abdul Aziz (site 26) and a shelter Khazne Cave I (site 28). The flint tools collected from site 26 and the terrace in front of site 28 included end-scrapers - flake scrapers and retouched blades. None of the tools is sufficiently diagaostic for one to be certain in which stage of the Neolithic the sites were occupied but from the appearance of the blades which broadly resemble material from Abu Hureyra it is more likely to have been during Neolithic 2 than later. Both sites are small and their nature is uncertain .....
