Jerf Ajla is near the oasis town of Palmyra in central Syria. Research in the Syrian Desert by Coon in 1955 uncovered a sequence of Lower - Middle - Upper Paleolithic occupations in the cave of Jerf Ajla. Subsequent investigations have extended the Paleolithic sequence back in time and have elaborated specific parts of the lithic (stone tools) sequence particularly in the Middle Paleolithic .....
